I have not had experience with the Konis, but installed Bilsteins on my last rig. It was a big improvement, especially with porposing.

I have contacted our Mfg.(Sportscoach - by Coachmen) 3 times. Twice by e mail and once by phone. I had good results by e mail (questions answered promply). My one phone call; I think I talked to someone who didn't know much. I think one must include as much info describing their unit as possible for the best results. Mfg.s make many models and include a lot of third party parts.

I hope you did the little routine of turning on the stove and tried to light the furnace a few times to make sure all of the air is out of the propane lines. Good luck.

My former coach was in an accident, damaging the front cap. I collected all of the fiberglass pieces that I could and took it to a well thought of repair facility who fixed it to my satisfaction. In a heavy wind in Wyoming my windsheild came loose. I think, in the repair, the windsheild opening must have expanded. A similar thing could have happened to yours. Can your windsheild opening be correctly sized by adding fiberglass?

While hooked up at the campground you don't need the chassis battery. I would disconnect it. Does your rig have a battery disconnect? If not, Disconect at the battery and charge it with an Automobile battery charger. Then, if you have not moved for some time, understand that the chassis battery may have some small parasitic drain from some component in the rig. Also check the coach battery for voltage. If it is dead, it sould be charged too. I suggest that you obtain a cheap multimeter/vom/voltmeter (about $10.00). battery monitoring is an important/ necessary part of camping, IMHO. To

I don't hear any evidence that you checked the house battery for voltage, specific gravity or corrosion/bad connection. That would be my first plan.

On the simple FF the little plunger switch can only be felt with the fingers ( its basically on the roof). Mine bent and they sent me a new one. I can not recall if you must be on the roof to replace/repair.

Lots of theories about batteries, and how they should be used. My theory is that the way to care for batteries is with love and affection. Until you know about how they will function the way you use them, you should pay a lot of attention to them; maybe charge them with a battery charger when voltages/hydrometer readings look bad. Add water when necessary. Until you know that your converter won't cook them, attention to their needs is what they need. I've only added water once in two years.

I have also had good luck with Decon poison. I never have smelled a dead mouse inside. I assume that, as advertised, most of them find their way outside, looking for water.

I've had 4 rigs, and on each, I've always heard the water pump when it runs. It has never been bothersome to me. But how they are mounted can impact the noise factor. For instance in an enclosed compartment, rubber mounting, insulating and etc.

RE: Slide out trouble
There are several different methods that were used to move the slides, and a number of manufacturers of the systems. I think this accounts for the sparce response. I think to get help you may need to get closer to the system and explain the problem you are having. The manufacture may be able to give more info about the system. Cable, hydraulic and electric were some of the methods, and they varied.

That is a fairly common problem with hydraulic jacks. You can try spraying the shiny part of the leg with WD40 (some prefer a silicone lubricant). If that doesn't work HWH has available, stronger springs.

RE: Step reinstallation
I had to repair my Kwikee step. And yes it was under about 3 layers of plywood. It was a pain. But, on mine the bolts had carriage heads and sat in square holes. You might be able to remove the nuts only and reuse the bolts without disturbing the step well. I would try that first if it works.

RE: 110 outlet on battery power
I have the same coach (2005. Unless you purchase a larger inverter, and probably more batteries. Your capacities (wattage)will be pretty low. The 110 outlets inside the TV compartment are wired to your inverter. I suppose, in a pinch you could run a cord from one of those. The final fix would be to chose a regular outlet to rewire to the inverter.

RE: Coachmen Cross Country batteries and disconnect
I have the same motorhome, but have not encountered the problem. I have been careful not to have the battery disconnect disconnected when plugged into shore power, as the little green light stays on in such a condition. I do not know if this is harmful to the disconnect mechanism or not, but if you have been doing otherwise You might check it out. Hope you get it fixed.

On our last rig we developed a mouse problem, and didn't know we had them. We started out to Missouri from washington State before we noticed. when we arrived in Missouri, We bought traps and within the day we had caught all five of the little critters. I think the trip had worn them out and made them less cautious. Since then, I have had great results with Poison (D Con) inside the rig. I do believe the mice go outside to find water, after they eat the poison. Its good to have a patrol cat outside too.

I have the 5.9 300 hp 38 footer 2005. I like it very much. I believe That engine is generally put in the lighter rigs, and works best when placed there. Its best charactoristics are mileage, toughness, realiability. And for many of us it works just fine (mountains and otherwise). You should find it pretty easy to find a DP with a 5.9 up to years 2007.
